April 27, 2006

It has been gorgeous weather here all week. Today it got up to 78 degrees! Next week it is suppossed to get into the 80's! The boys have been loving playing in the backyard. I caught them trying to "plant" a cut off branch. It was so cute! They were working together to try to get it to stand up straight! They didn't stick with it long enough to figure out the hole needed to be deeper! No accidents today! It was a good day!

The day from HELL! ( I don't care if it's swearing...it's the truth!) April 26, 2006

Okay, today was horrible. Jake slammed Kristin's finger in the sliding glass door. It pretty much sliced a chunk off, except for a piece of skin still intact holding it on. We were all still in PJ's and had to rush of to urgent care. As we were sitting in the room waiting for the doctor (what is the deal with doctors and having to wait forever? irritating...) I was in my pajamas, Kristin was too, Troy hadn't brushed his teeth yet...Jake had dressed himself...I looked at Troy and said, we really are white trash, huh? Most of you know how much I strive to not be white trash, but today was definately a white trash day! The doctor cleaned and bandaged it. She said it would be too painful to suture it, so, we left it at a bandaid (well, 3 to be exact). We took it off to change the dressing tonight (doctors instructions) but it was still bleeding pretty good, so we're thinking the dressing is going to have to stay on for a few more days. If that's not enough, later tonight we went to our new ward building, which is being dedicated on Sunday, and they asked people to come and clean it tonight. We decided it would be a good thing to show the kids, and to get a sneak peak at the new chapel. While we were there, in the chapel, they have a ramp that goes from the audience up the wall to the stage/pulpit area. It was just too much for Jake to resist, so he went running down the ramp, tripped, and face planted it into the bottom of a pew. As you can see, the lump that showed up within minutes was hideous! I refused to go to the urgent care again today, and have another white trash experience, and probably get accused of child abuse, so we called an advice nurse, she told us to not let him eat anything (which we didn't listen to). He's fine now. The bump is still there, and still disgusting. But, he is acting fine. He went to Zacky's (next door) to play already. Tomorrow better be a better day!

Jake's Head. That's what he gets for running in the chapel? I really almost puked and passed out when I was holding him...ewwww!!!! Posted by Picasa

Kristin's Finger. We were changing the dressing tonight, and this is what it looks like. It's completely sliced except for one little part that is keeping the whole flap of skin on. Gross...Troy almost passed out...so did I though... Posted by Picasa

Kyle's Art

Okay, for any of you who know Kyle, and his hatred of drawing, coloring, writing, etc...you know that this is a complete masterpiece. He came home from school with this in his backpack. (Troy said that he must have traded his Capri Suns for a piece of artwork...oh ye of little faith...)Kyle said that he drew a cow, and he thought he did the best job on the "gutters". Yep, gutters are where milk comes from...This picture will definately go in his scrapbook!

April 22, 2006

Whew! What a long week! I think every week is long, unless you're on some tropical island. We have kind of had an exciting week. Troy was offered a job with IM Flash Technologies (a company founded by Intel and Micron) he would train in Virginia for 6 months and then be permanently in Lehi, Utah. He counter-offered the salary, and we'll find out next week what the verdict is. We don't care one way or the other. It would be nice to get it and get a raise, and live by family, but we also enjoy our lives here in Oregon, and Troy likes his job here. Either way, we feel blessed. We will keep you posted. We also have other exciting news. We are expecting baby#4 December 10th (it will end up being the end of November with a c-section). We are so excited! Paranoid and scared after the miscarriage last August, but happy. I had an ultrasound Thursday where we heard and saw the babies heartbeat. Everything looked great! We're optimistic about this pregnancy! Kyle is so excited he can't stand it. He is already asking what we are going to name the baby, etc...Jake is excited too, he wants a little brother...Kristin has no clue what's about to rock her world...On Friday night, Troy took the boys to a Mariner game in Seattle. They had a good time I think. Apparently it was really cold, so they came home after the 7th inning stretch. We're hoping to all go up in August to watch the Yankees play again(we did it last year). Or, if we're in Virginia, maybe we can try to go to Yankee Stadium. Troy doesn't have to go back to work until Thursday! Yeah! It's a good thing, because I am completely sick now (I AM NOT COMPLAINING!), I'm relieved to be feeling the symptoms of pregnancy! Hope to hear from you all soon!

April 14th 2006

Whew! We have had a busy week! A fun week, but busy! The Owens' Family came to visit! YEA! We had a blast! We got a babysitter one night and got to go to dinner! (She ended up with free Math Lessons and a banana split.) We went to the AC Gilbert Discovery Museum, the Zoo, and the Tulip Festival. The kids had a blast at the discovery museum playing in the bubble room. Kinlee had fun too, except when she got bubbles in her eyes. The kids loved the zoo. Daxton wanted to touch the goats, Kyle wanted to see the Yak's, and Kristin just peed her pants 4 times. The tulip festival was hilarious. Daxton ran into a man, and the man clocked him in the head with his fist, it was an accident, but funny at the same time. Anyways, it was a week full of laughs(if you know us when we get together, you understand!)! It ended too soon! Some of the highlights...a man in a bathrobe selling us WAY overpriced frozen raspberries (Kenny thinks it was worth the extra money cause he got a good story out of it), dachshunds(how do you pronounce it?), new couch, worms, games...I can go on and on...The kids had a blast! Kristin and Kinlee enjoyed each other. The boys had a blast! We love you guys! Here are some pictures from the week. After The Owens' left, Grammy and Papa came. They stayed in a hotel with an indoor pool, the boys were in heaven. Kristin didn't like it so much. They managed to swim 3 times in 24 hours. They didn't want to get out! We went to the zoo where the highlight was feeding the birds(one landed right on Kyle's hand! :)). We also went to the Children's Museum, where I ended up buying a year pass. The kids love it, but I can't stand being there for longer than an hour. It's right next to the zoo, and we have a yearly zoo pass, so we can kill 2 birds with 1 stone from now on. We love visitors! Anybody is welcome anytime!

April 4, 2006

Last night during family home evening, we were talking about miracles. When Jesus made enough fish and bread for everyone...Troy asked Kyle if he knew of any miracles that took place today.
Kyle's response: Yeah, it's a miracle everytime mom reaches something up high without dad's help.
Stinker. He was completely serious! Troy agreed, and we went on with the lesson!

April 2, 2006

WOW! Can you believe it's already April? We've had a long week. It was spring break here. Spring Break hasn't really affected us since Troy and I were in school, so it was a little wierd. We told the kids we would take them to the zoo on Monday, but as we neared the exit, Troy and I were trying to come up with excuses to go elsewhere. It took us 20 minutes JUST to get off of the exit, so, in that 20 minutes, we talked the kids into going to Costco where we would buy them hot dogs instead and then go to a park. They bought it, and we were off. We are used to being able to go anywhere without a crowd on a Monday or Tuesday (Troy's days off), so we were thrown off a bit by Spring Break.

Wednesday I was at a friends helping her get started scrapbooking, and Troy called me. He told me that Kristin (almost 23 months) said she needed to go potty, so humoring her, Troy took her diaper off, and she proceeded to poop in her little potty! So, I knew she was ready to potty train. So, Thursday we were homebound. She sat on her potty while I gave her drink after drink after drink. Friday, she decided to scream all morning, once she told me her ear hurt, I took her to the doctor. Yep, ear infection. After the doctor we went to the park(cause it was nice and I had promised the boys before I knew Kristin was sick) and then off to the pharmacy to pick up her perscription. NO ACCIDENTS up until that point! Every day has gotten better, and Troy and I even returned an unopened box of diapers to Costco yesterday! WOO HOO! It is now 5:47 pm on Sunday, and so far NO ACCIDENTS today! She even woke up from her nap to go potty! I love it! It's great! The boys beg her to go potty so they can have candy!

We watched conference today. That's all that's been happening! The boys go back to school tomorrow, and Kenny, Cherice, Daxton, and Kinlee come on Wednesday. My boys have a countdown and have made a list of things they want to do with Daxton...it includes: bowling, seeing Ice Age2, going to the Children's Museum, Zoo, and Papa's Pizza. It should be a packed weekend! I can't wait! Send us an email and let us know what's happening in your life!

This was said at the park, when he was trying to go across a wobbly bridge without using his hands:

"I thought it was going to be scary, but I was undistracted by the frightness!"
