Stupid, stupid, stupid, snow...

So, it snowed a TON last night - well, a ton for March. It was icy on the roads. I went to the gym this morning and ran over 2 miles without stopping. I was on cloud 9. I didn't have any pain - and I was so happy to be running, sweating, and jamming to my tunes. On the way home, I was so happy. It was snowing, blowing, and icy. While I was going on a straight-away I hit a patch of ice - which sent me flying into the curb. Yeah, if you're thinking you've heard this before...YOU ARE RIGHT! I did this in December too! I was able to drive home this time. It wasn't as bad as last time. BUT - STILL! I HATE THE SNOW! Is there a snow driving course I can take? Apparently I need it. It's a good thing our insurance agent is a friend...he laughs at me when I call - about how we discussed Troy and I being good drivers - so we didn't need a very low deductable...yeah right. We're discussing about lowering our deductable in the winter months...sigh...Troy didn't even get mad at me (at least out loud). He just said, "WHAT? (not yelling, just in a quieter higher voice) Allright, just get it fixed." So, it's a good thing we have towing...but seriously...last week 70 degree weather...this week snow...stupid, stupid, stupid...

Huntington Beach

We checked into our hotel room on Friday, and then headed straight for the beach. It was a nice day, and the kids were so excited. I was too. There's something so great about just hanging out at the beach. We didn't have to be anywhere, we just stayed as long as we wanted. I really wanted to get some good pictures at the beach...although I refused to see it as a photo shoot. There were no carefully planned out outfits, we just went...in swimsuits and what we had on. I have to say, I am IN LOVE with these pictures! It's just us, being us. It was Haley's first time at the beach where she was walking. She danced around the sand. She didn't like it when her hands got sandy, so Troy had to be creative with how she washed her hands. We played in the ocean, walked on the pier, and ate at Ruby's Diner at the end of the pier where the kids were amazed with balloon swords and butterflies. Ah...can't wait to go to San Diego in October! Beware, there are tons of photos...but if I ever get around to doing a blog book, I want them all on here...

I fear that I've become...

a whiny sick person. I HATE whiny sick people. As of yesterday, I came down with a fever - 103 - to be exact. Last night was horrible...until Troy retrieved me some more Tylenol at 4:00 am. I don't remember the last time I had a fever, and I'm here to say THEY SUCK! Troy even went to work this morning. About 2 hours after he had gone - I realized there was NO WAY I could deal with all the kids. (They are all off-track.) He came home before 10:00. My parents just picked up the girls to go to the Home Show...and, I guess I'm headed back to bed...I just left my bedroom for a minute...check my email...get out of my sweaty bed...and now - I'm whining again. I will spare ALL a photo...it's not pretty...back to my dungeon...

Jake's tooth...

A few weeks ago, Jake was playing with his 11 year old cousin. They were wrestling - like all boy cousins do (at least in this family). I don't know what happened, but when we got home Jake informed us that he had a new loose tooth. His top front tooth. Well, within days it was turning blueish, and was hanging down lower than the others...it looked like this:
and it was driving me crazy!

He had been wiggling and wiggling it, and finally asked me to pull it out. I pull out the kids teeth with my Grandpa Peterson's old hanky. He used to carry around clean hankies in case anyone was in need of a tooth pulling. When he died, that was the one thing I wanted of his...just a few hankies. So, my kids go pull them out of my special drawer and bring me a hanky when they feel it is time.

Well, I pulled, and pulled on that stinking tooth, and it did not want to come out! It was hanging down so much lower than it used to, I couldn't figure it out. Finally a day later, I got it out. I felt really bad, because there was almost as much root left on the tooth as the actual tooth...looks like he's going to be toothless for quite some time.

So, this is how he looks now. I told him he looks like the crazy old southern man that just got kicked off the Amazing Race last week...pretty sure the amount of teeth they have in their mouth is the same...

Playing catch-up...

Well, looks like I'm going to have to play catch-up again...why do I always do that? Oh yeah, I've been BUSY! Kristin had her tonsils out last Tuesday, and she's not suppossed to be around other kids (in case they are sick) and she's just been hanging out...the boys are off-track, so it has made it quite the stir-crazy week for us. Tomorrow it is suppossed to be 58 degrees, so I'm hoping to outside play time for the kids...

Allright, first up...a visit with an old friend...

Kari came from VA to her sister-in-law's wedding. I know how crazy it is when you live out of state to come to Utah for a visit. There are so many things you'd like to do, but family events come first, so although I knew she was coming, I wasn't expecting getting to see her!

She called me late Friday night, and we met for breakfast at Kneaders (YUMMY!) Saturday morning. It was so good to see her! It has been almost 2 years since our last visit. She's had a chunky little guy in that time - who now weighs more than Haley - I'm sure. Troy and I will be staying with her and Jeff when we head out to Virginia in May. It was so much fun catching up! I made Troy take a few pics of us...just to prove it actually happened! See you in a few months, Kari!
