This is Troy's xray. The light in the exam room wasn't bright enough to show detail, but this is his real shoulder... Posted by Picasa

What the shoulder is suppossed to look like. Posted by Picasa

March 22, 2006

First of all, I want to start off by saying, "We are very happy we are not in Mexico". Church Basketball has struck again...Troy was playing basketball tonight (in a very dirty game, I will add) and he fell on his shoulder and stood up with his shoulder having an obvious deformity. We thought he just dislocated his shoulder, so we called Cherice (sorry again for waking you up Cherice) to get any advice (since it was 10:00 pm, and we had 3 kids with us, we were trying to get out of going to the ER). She advised to go to the ER. Luckily, we called a girl in the ward (whose a Senior in High School) to come over and stay with the kids. We went to the hospital in Hillsboro, since it was close, kinda a scary hospital, but like I said, it was close. They told us there was going to be a 4 hour wait. We thought there was no way we could make a YW stay with our kids all night, but we didn't know what to do. We told the hospital registrar our problem, and he advised us to go to the Forest Grove Hospital. WHAT? WHAT'S THAT? YES, there is a hospital in Forest Grove. So, we went (an extra 10 miles toward the coast) to a little tiny hospital, with NO WAIT! Crazy, huh? We didn't even have to sit in the waiting room chairs. They called us right back. The doctor looked at Troy's shoulder within 5 minutes of getting to our room, and ordered an xray. Troy got an xray, and we got some bad news. He has an AC Seperation. (Cherice will have to explain, we're still not sure what AC stands for, except that the 'C' stands for Clavical) Basically, where the clavical and something else are suppossed to connect (they are being held by tendons and stuff) they don't. The xray showed what looked like 2 bones like a stair step, pretty much at 90 degrees and not touching at all. He said that probably all the tendons are torn, or broken, or whatever tendons do. So, Troy's arm is in a sling, and we have to go see an Orthopedic Surgeon tomorrow (or as soon as we can get in). Church basketball just is not worth this (in my opinion, it is worth it in Troy's opinion). So, he can not work in a sling, so he's going to have to meet with his bosses tomorrow to find out what he needs to do. HUGE PAIN! Anyways, the good thing that came out of this, is that we now know of an emergency room with no wait. We were there a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes. CRAZY, huh? Well, it's almost 1:00am. (Kristin is going to die tomorrow when she finds out Troy can't hold her...can it get any worse?) Troy will be home Thursday(and maybe longer), feel free to call and give him a bad time! :) gnite

March 15th, 2006

Well, it finally happened. Jake fell out of the cart at Costco yesterday. It was bound to happen. I was telling him that he had to sit down, and I was walking around the cart to physically sit him down, when he fell out. He (I) was really lucky, because he did a full somersault and landed flat on his back. I don't think his head hit at all. It sure did scare the crap out of him. I don't think he'll stand up in carts again (at least not for a few weeks anyways). I was really grateful that when he did fall, I was in the middle of telling him to sit down. This way, all the onlookers didn't give me dirty looks, or rude comments (Costco shoppers are really good at this...), they just felt bad for him and gave me sympathetic looks.

All is well here. Troys work is glad he's back. He's already working overtime tomorrow. Troy is glad he's back. Kristin still isn't back to normal. For the first few days Troy was back she demanded that he carry her everywhere (which he did...sucker...). Even now on the days Troys works she asks for him first thing in the morning, and whines and cries for him all day long. It's making it really difficult to not give her the pacifier.

Kyle's good. Coming up with outrageous comments constantly...here's a few of his latest:

Yesterday, Kyle begged me all day long (he had for a few days) that he wanted to go to Subway. I kept saying no, and then last night, (since Troy got a free dinner at work) I decided what the heck. On the way there, I asked Kyle why he wanted to go there, and what he wanted once we got there. When we were 1/2 a block away from Subway, he said: Mom, I just wanted to eat at Subway, Eat Fresh, like on the TV. He had no clue what kind of food they have, just liked the slogan. Don't worry, his TV is on huge restriction now...He keeps digging his own grave...

the other...

I was putting together these cube things for my scrapbook stuff. (Store in Style by Crop in Style, they're AWESOME! Perfect for storing 12x12 paper) Well, they are these white cubes, and while I was putting them together, the kids kept commenting that they were dog houses. We were joking that they were dog houses when Kyle said: Mom, if it's a dog house, you're going to have to paint it blue. It's more "motionally" good for the dog.

WHERE DOES HE GET THESE THINGS?

We found Kristin hiding in the corner with a pacifier she must have found. We have only been letting her have a pacifier in her crib. We kept saying, "give us the pacifier" and she would shake her head with a tight grip on that pacifier and say, "uh huh, uh huh".  Posted by Picasa

TROY'S HOME!!! Yea! But, of course, we couldn't just pick him up with no drama involved...that's not how things have been going the past 3 weeks. We go pick him up, and it took forever for his bags to come (I am talking 40 minutes...). Well, the battery died to our car outside of the baggage claim. I know, so irritating...Anyways, Troy had a guy that he went to Texas with have his wife drive up and jump start the car. Well, we were trying to hurry, and it didn't get a big enough charge, so the car died again, this time with nobody that we knew who could help us. So, we had to ask an airport worker to send someone, which she did, but it took quite awhile. So, Troy is standing in front of the van with the hood raised and jumper cables in hand. He sat there that way for AT LEAST 30 minutes. How many people do you think asked if they could give us a jump? ONLY 1! Can you believe that? People are so wrapped up in their own lives, that they can't even stop for NO MORE than 3 minutes to jump start someone's car. So, if you see someone who needs help, STOP AND HELP! They will appreciate it, you will do service, and chances are it could be Troy or me! :) Of course, the kids thought it was great! The truck from the airport that came to jump start us had a light on the top. So, instantly he was a "Higglytown Hero". (TV show on Disney that all my kids love, where it shows kids about normal people in the community that are heroes everyday, like a garbage man, truck driver, etc) Kristin sings the song...So, we're home now, and we're keeping our fingers crossed the car will start tomorrow for church!

March 9th 2006

Well, the snow sure surprised us this morning. They are predicting more tomorrow. It would be fun, except it is so wet and if they go out, I pretty much have to go out. Jake lasted all of 10 seconds out there. Kyle didn't care, but he kept coming in the house and changing his clothes when they got "too" wet. So, he went through 4 outfits in 30 minutes. (Not to mention the floor is muddy now...) Kristin had no desire to go outside and neither did I. We haven't left the house all day. I watched 3 episodes of Oprah I had recorded. I couldn't bear to take a nap while the house was quiet, and I didn't want to work, (housework or work work) so instead, I vegged on the couch and watched Oprah. I can't wait for Troy to get home. At least I cook dinner when he's home. I can't cook dinner when he's gone because the kids don't eat it, and it would just get wasted. (who knows how to cook for 1 person?) So, today I've had cereal, a yogurt, and grilled cheese and minestrone for dinner. My body is craving protein! I guess I can cook tomorrow night, then Troy can eat the leftovers...it will probably be the first time in his life he won't complain about leftovers...OH! It's 8:15! BEDTIME! WOOHOO!!

Kyle would have stayed out all day if I would let him. He wanted to call his Grandpa Korth (apparently, per Kyle, they have "snow" in common now). Posted by Picasa

Well, Jake caused lots of messes today. The biggest mess is shown below. He got into my make-up and came downstairs and proudly told me, "I'm pretty like you, mom!" So, instead of freaking out, I got the camera (a little trick I learned from a good friend!)

We'll just call him "Boy George" from now on! Posted by Picasa

You gotta admit, he sure knows how to apply mascara!  Posted by Picasa

March 4th, 2006

Well, I have officially less than 1 week left of Troy being gone. The past few days have been pretty good. I got the boys (both of them) signed up for Indoor Soccer. I'm hoping this gives them a place to get their craziness out. Their first day is Monday. Jake goes for an hour, and then Kyle goes for an hour. I'm also hoping this wears them out for bedtime! Today was a gorgeous day in Oregon. The kids played outside in the backyard from about 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. It was sunny the whole time! It just made me YEARN for summertime! They got pretty dirty, but it was well worth it! I think it's suppossed to rain tomorrow, but at least we got one nice day!

Yesterday at school, for Dr. Seuss' Birthday, they do a Read Across America. The kids are suppossed to dress up as their favorite story book character. Kyle chose David, from the "No, David" books by David Shannon. (Picture of Kyle shown...) If you don't have these books, get them. Kristin reads the No David books, and loves them just as much as the boys do. Our books our currently torn up, and falling apart, I've taped and retaped them, so if anybody is searching for a gift for the kids...hardback David Shannon books are the way to go! :)

Next week is Jake's Last week of preschool until April. Jake will be happy, he is such a grouch in the morning, he has a hard time getting going by 8:00am. Jake also has a dentist appointment on Monday. He has had 3 dentist appointments in the past 4 months. They are trying to get xrays of his mouth, but he gags on the film every time, so we have been practicing at home...THIS BETTER BE IT! Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

Kristin has a bad diaper rash, so I might try potty training her...we'll see...I might wait until Troy gets home...we'll see how it goes!
