February 26th, 2006

Hello. We had quite the exciting Sunday. After today, I prefer non-exciting Sundays. Jake got 2 stictches in his chin this morning. In our shower, we have a bench. He had both hands on the bench, and was jumping. His hands slipped and his chin came down on the bench. He screamed, and I didn't see any blood, so I thought he was okay. Then I saw some dripping a little, and when I got him out of the shower, I knew immediately it would need stitches. It was no scratch, it was like he had a scalpal to the chin. I called a friend in the ward to come and stay with Kyle and Kristin (of course Jake has to do this when Troy is gone!) and we were off. For a deep cut, it hardly bled! On the way to the Urgent Care, I asked Jake to hold a tissue against his chin. When I got him out at the Urgent Care, he was holding the tissue to his cheek. It was funny. He never could figure out where he was cut in order to hold a tissue to it. After we got in, the nurse took one look and set us up in the suture room. He did awesome. Cried a little during the shot to numb everything, but then held still the rest of the time. Me, on the other hand, almost passed out. (The reason why: once they had it numb, they scrubbed the cut hard with a sponge...ew!!!!) He ended up with 2 stitches. We always figured Jake would be our first kid with stitches or a broken limb. But we also thought it would be because he was climbing and being a naughty monkey. We came home, took a nap, and went to church. It's 8:00 and all is well. Kids all asleep. Garbage out! ( I HATE THAT JOB.) Now I have to stay up as long as possible and enjoy the solitude. I encourage any callers after 8:30pm any night! I'm going to try to include pictures, but not sure if I know how...we'll see...
