March 22, 2006

First of all, I want to start off by saying, "We are very happy we are not in Mexico". Church Basketball has struck again...Troy was playing basketball tonight (in a very dirty game, I will add) and he fell on his shoulder and stood up with his shoulder having an obvious deformity. We thought he just dislocated his shoulder, so we called Cherice (sorry again for waking you up Cherice) to get any advice (since it was 10:00 pm, and we had 3 kids with us, we were trying to get out of going to the ER). She advised to go to the ER. Luckily, we called a girl in the ward (whose a Senior in High School) to come over and stay with the kids. We went to the hospital in Hillsboro, since it was close, kinda a scary hospital, but like I said, it was close. They told us there was going to be a 4 hour wait. We thought there was no way we could make a YW stay with our kids all night, but we didn't know what to do. We told the hospital registrar our problem, and he advised us to go to the Forest Grove Hospital. WHAT? WHAT'S THAT? YES, there is a hospital in Forest Grove. So, we went (an extra 10 miles toward the coast) to a little tiny hospital, with NO WAIT! Crazy, huh? We didn't even have to sit in the waiting room chairs. They called us right back. The doctor looked at Troy's shoulder within 5 minutes of getting to our room, and ordered an xray. Troy got an xray, and we got some bad news. He has an AC Seperation. (Cherice will have to explain, we're still not sure what AC stands for, except that the 'C' stands for Clavical) Basically, where the clavical and something else are suppossed to connect (they are being held by tendons and stuff) they don't. The xray showed what looked like 2 bones like a stair step, pretty much at 90 degrees and not touching at all. He said that probably all the tendons are torn, or broken, or whatever tendons do. So, Troy's arm is in a sling, and we have to go see an Orthopedic Surgeon tomorrow (or as soon as we can get in). Church basketball just is not worth this (in my opinion, it is worth it in Troy's opinion). So, he can not work in a sling, so he's going to have to meet with his bosses tomorrow to find out what he needs to do. HUGE PAIN! Anyways, the good thing that came out of this, is that we now know of an emergency room with no wait. We were there a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes. CRAZY, huh? Well, it's almost 1:00am. (Kristin is going to die tomorrow when she finds out Troy can't hold her...can it get any worse?) Troy will be home Thursday(and maybe longer), feel free to call and give him a bad time! :) gnite
